Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Project Awards Announced
The Maine Commission for Community Service will make cash awards for organizations in Maine to develop community volunteer service projects in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Applications are now being accepted. Application forms and additional information are available at www.maineservicecommission.gov. The deadline to apply is November 23, 2008.

Heating Fuel Prices Tracked
October marks the start of the 2008-09 heating season during which the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security conducts a weekly survey of fuel oil, propane, and kerosene prices across Maine. Current and past prices are available on line.

Maine Americorps State Grant Competition
The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals for AmeriCorps grants. The deadline for proposals is November 21, 2008. Visit the link above to download application guidelines and proposal submission instructions.

2008 Maine Recycles Video Competition
2008 Maine Recycles Video Competition is open to college, high school, and middle school students to design public service videos. The theme is recycling—promoting it through humor, facts, fun, and, of course, ingenuity. Winning videos are aired on local cable stations across the state. Deadline for mailing: November 30, 2008.
